Autumn Update from the Senior Captains
As we move further into the autumn season, here are a few updates and reminders for rowers.
Training & Safety
Autumn Training: Phase 2
Our Autumn Training programme is now into its second four-week phase. The integrated programme of weights, ergs, and water sessions follows British Rowing guidance and is designed to provide a solid framework for anyone seeking motivation. We hope it is helping, and we will continue to build over the coming weeks.
Launch Driver Training:
A massive thank you to Graham for leading the first cohort of Launch Driver Training. Having a strong group of qualified drivers is essential for providing reliable safety cover during club sessions.
Fleet Maintenance, Steps & Incident Reporting:
Considering the low water conditions this summer, boat damage was remarkably low – thank you to everyone for taking extra care!
However, there have been a few recent incidents, so please keep the following critical reminders in mind to protect our equipment and keep everyone safe:
-
High water management: When high water is forecast, please remember to recover the step platforms – especially the smaller ones. This ensures they are available when high water forces us to use the narrow steps. Rowers are also reminded that the steps must be cleaned down after high water before going out.
Report all incidents immediately: We have had some unreported incidents recently. It is vital that all damage or minor collisions are reported straight away to the Captains and the Boathouse Fairy. Reporting is essential for timely repairs, and vital for everyone’s safety on the water.
If you have an incident or notice equipment damage, please report it right away – no matter how minor it seems!
Admin & Race Operations:
Race Entry Payments are Moving to Spond (Replacing WebCollect).
Moving forward, race entry payments will now be handled via Spond instead of WebCollect. We have trialled this at a few recent events with great feedback.
The next time you enter a race, you will receive a payment request directly linked to the event within Spond. If you have any questions or need more details, please check in with your Captain.
Racing Results:
After a busy summer of regatta racing, heads racing is now underway:
