After the effects of the Covid19 lockdown, our next group course starts in Spring 2021, but if you cant wait until then and want to get started sooner, then please get in touch and we will see what can be accommodated by our volunteer coaching team.
Learn to Row (or ‘Explore Rowing’, L2R/Learn 2 Row) takes place on Friday evenings (subject to numbers and coach availability), Saturday and Sunday mornings
Our volunteer coaching team endeavour to make your rowing experience both instructive, fun and engaging with the help and support of members of the club.
Recreational boats will be used which are more stable and are designed to ensure that you learn the correct rowing technique, before you move into the fine racing shells.
The outcomes of the Learn to Row are:
• A working knowledge of the sport, both on the water and off
• An understanding of safe rowing procedures
• An understanding of the basic rowing technique
• The ability to row and or scull with others (and on your own !!)
• Knowledge of Ross Rowing Club
• Temporary membership of the Club and progression to a rowing squad, if desired
• A great time and lots of fun, we even practice capsizing !!

The cost is £90 for the course and your fees will also provide you with club Membership, Coaching and 12mth Silver membership to the British Rowing Association.
If you already have a friend at the club, and just fancy a taster session one weekend morning, then get in touch and we’ll make it happen.
WHY DON’T YOU JOIN US?
There is no criteria regarding age, gender or ability other than you should be 18 or over and not suffer from any major medical conditions (although it should be ok to participate on your doctors advice) and not be afraid of water (i.e be able to tread water and swim for 50m in light clothing) or having fun.
The courses will last for 12sessions (on Friday evenings & Saturday & Sunday late mornings) and then if you have enjoyed the course, you can join the club and the Development section, developing further skills including how to cox if you are of a suitable size.
