Bewdley Beauties

Huge congrats to all our winning teams, juniors and adults at Bewdley Regatta last weekend. For those “losing their novices” a dunk in the river by their buddies as is traditional – looking good there Georgie, Nick & Alice   Super winning rows by seniors Greg, Alice, Alex, Georgie, Beth and Nick.

Junior report:
On Saturday Faith and Fliss won the semi final of the WJ15 2x, but lost the final against a strong AB Severn crew.  Charlie, Annable, Niamh and Dom put in a great performance in a Mx 4x but unfortunately lost the straight final.

Sunday saw 10 junior crews competing.
Faith and Fliss won their respective WJ15 and WJ 14 1x semi finals but lost a close final.  Charlie and Dom (J18 2x), Niamh and Annabel (W 2x) and Faith and Lily (WJ14 2x) all rowed really well but lost their doubles races.  The WJ18 1x event was a straight final between Niamh and Ellie.  It was a strong performance from both, but Niamh took home the pot on this occasion.  Charlie won the J17 1x event, and Annabel rowed a good race in the WJ16 1x but lost the semi final.  Milo and Jacob put in an excellent performance in the J13 2x event, winning their first race.  Congrats everyone 🥳 Not only a crop of wins but some brilliant efforts from those who missed the winner’s podium.

Plus, its official, the decibel meter registered the Ross Massive as the loudest supporter pack  GO ROSS!!!!!

Fund for Annie

 A lasting legacy

A Fund for Annie has been set up by family and friends to support some of the many causes that she championed: female empowerment, social justice and rowing for ALL.

She was a founding supporter of Love Rowing which champions the same issues, and was in the middle of a charity campaign on their behalf when she died.

This has exceeded £800 already (with gift aid).

A dedicated project will be set up at Ross using these funds, and in partnership with Love Rowing, hopefully amplified to reach young women across the UK. In lieu of flowers, or as a gift in her memory, do hit this link:

Summer Camp

A great week with six youngsters learning to row.

Started with Capsize Drill last Monday, moved through the week into fine singles – sitting (as traditional) and standing up (very brave and skillful) and finishing with a great day of racing on Friday.

Massive thank you to Karen for leading the week and all the help from across the club that made it possible.

Trial Regatta

Thank you to everyone to turned up and took part to test the Short course trial , a very productive hour or so allowing the regatta organising team and umpires to visualise and test our plan B regatta.

Now everyone needs to do a few rain dances 🕺‍♀️🕺 to encourage just enough rainfall to bring the river levels up enough so that it settles down to the perfect level.

All we need is Bryn with a clipboard

Thanks to the trial crews, fun rowing with scratch crews mixing juniors and seniors.

THANK YOU – LIFESAVERS

Thanks to the 19 volunteers from Ross Rowing Club who completed a Heartstart Course on Saturday, ensuring continued ability to use our Defibrillator. As the number of canoeists, paddle boarders and campers increase, as well as our neighbours at the rugby club and our own rowers, this is an important location for the Defib and for us to have trained members.

Our Defib was lost in the Nov 2019 floods and within days, rugby friends from the Richmond Heavies Foundation in London offered to pay for a new one. We remain extremely grateful and thank our sporting colleagues #sport4all
