Easy Oar Annie

On Weds 3rd August a guard of honour flanked the entrance to St Mary’s Church in Ross-on-Wye wearing Ross blazers and holding lowered oars .

The church was full and the service incredibly moving. 

Husband Lewis delivered a eulogy of such love, honesty and even humour, that I was not the only one in floods of tears. Annie would have been so proud of him and her gorgeous boys. 

Irrepressible and Irreplaceable 

Back at the club we toasted her memory – she would have approved!

We launched flower wreaths down the River Wye.

I am delighted that the newest boat in our boathouse will be named ” Annie”. She was always a champion for women and girls, and the boat at 50kg-60kg average will be a great resource for them.

Lewis highlighted that Annie was an irrepressible party animal, always at the centre of the dancing and outside her serious athletic diet and exercise, happy to throw down a few drinks and behave badly! He gave all her friends a green light to follow her example!! Many of us did…

Upcoming Races ‍♂️

1. The Great Ouse Marathon September 2022  

   Four Ross crews are currently in training for The Great Ouse Marathon. You will see them out on the river building the mileage up over the next four weeks in preparation to row the 21.5km course .

2. 2022 World Rowing Masters Regatta 

   Sheron Dean- Lucas will be competing with Monmouth on 7th – 11th September  in  Libourne, France . Good Luck Sheron!
