World Record Breaking Champion

Morgan Baynham-Williams came back to visit her “home” club on Friday night, bringing her Paralympic Rowing World Championship medal with her. She met up with crew members that she coxed as a junior and senior, guiding them to a number of National Masters Championship medals.

Not only did Morgan win Gold, but in a world record breaking time. She and her PR3 Mixed 4 crew, in far from perfect conditions, took a substantial chunk of time out of the previous World Record.

At the weekend, Masters World Champion cox, Sheron Dean-Lucas, brought her gold medal to show her fellow rowers. Sheron, an RRC rower and cox, guided a Monmouth masters crew to victory in France a few weeks ago.

MIXED ABILITY ROWING

Open Evening
7.30pm, Weds 2nd Nov
RRC Bar

Rowing is well known for offering physical and psychological benefits. It also has a strong club culture where members support each other and socialise off the water, reducing loneliness and creating a sense of belonging.

Beyond providing regular healthy exercise, rowing on the River Wye in our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a joy, appreciating scenery, flora and fauna from the water.

In order to broaden the reach of these benefits Ross Rowing Club is considering offering MIXED ability rowing sessions.

Current club rowers include those with chronic and acute physical and mental illnesses, people recovering from, or living with, life threatening diseases or coping with life changing events.

A small group has come together keen to WELCOME people who might not have thought the club would be a place for them, either as recreational rowers, or as non-rowers, for instance if people enjoy working on boats.

Do please come and join us to discuss what might be possible – this is an OPEN meeting for anyone from the community who is interested in this idea, either themselves, or for someone else.

PLEASE JOIN US – you can contact Sally Pettipher or Dan Bailey by emailing on this LINK if you would like more information in advance.

The BBC are making a programme on pollution in the River Wye and they came to film at RRC with Paul Whitehouse, and to talk to some of the juniors. Paul spoke to them on camera so hopefully it will get used in the show which is due to be out in a couple of months 🤞🏻

They also launched a drone from the club to take some aerial shots of Ross and the river.

The Ross juniors were a credit to the club, thank you all.
