Learn to Row Graduation ????

On Friday the 2nd of June the rowing club celebrated the L2R graduation. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and coaches who have helped during the course.

Thank you to Buffy and Jack the burger king for building burgers for the evening, and to Nicki for her work behind the bar!

Hereford Regatta

This year’s Hereford regatta saw an impressive turnout, with 140 races over the one day event .

An easy win for the mixed crew of Greg, Alice, Georgie and Tom in a straight final against Hereford.  Congratulations to Tom for losing his novices.

The club also celebrated another junior win with Milo beating his opponent easily in a J14 single, well done Milo. Faith then made the semi-final of the WJ15 X1. Lilly, competing in her 1st ever single event (WJ15 X1), lost her heat, but gained valuable experience to take forward into future races.

Andrea Aldridge competing in her 1st ever event with Sue Thompson, Jo Ursell & Nicky Wolfenden, coxed by Plum were beaten by Swansea University, a fantastic effort .

The Ladies Masters crew of Alice, Sheron, Chris Crowhurst and Nicky Wild made the semi-final of the WM4+, a very exciting race pushing their limits only to be pipped at the finish by their opponents, Worcester .

Very well done ladies after only a few outings .

Overall a great day for Ross, the close finishes in several races added to the excitement and a great day at Hereford.

Well done Ross !!!

New Cox – Still Smiling

Undeterred by coxing the senior men in Colossus, Rachel is still smiling!

Not only that, but she rose up the coxing league table considerably by supplying biscuits for the crew afterwards

Geoff Howell Funeral

The flag has flown at half mast since news of Geoff’s death.

His funeral is on June 15th at 3pm at the Forest of Dean Crematorium

I have no doubt that Ross Rowing Club members alongside his many other friends, will be there to give him a big send off

Day Tickets

Not a ticket to ride – a ticket to row

British Rowing has just launched a pilot day ticket scheme.

What the day ticket pilot scheme means for competitors and club entries admins

Members holding Community, Row, Coach or Umpire membership can buy a day ticket through the British Rowing Membership system. Once they’ve done this, their club entries administrator will be able to enter them in competitions participating in the pilot scheme. A list of participating competitions is available here.

Day tickets include public liability insurance for members for the day of the race. Please note that day tickets do not include personal accident cover, which Race members benefit from. In addition, Community membership does not offer any insurance and those holding Coach or Umpire membership are recommended to check that their insurance (including cover provided by clubs to their members) suits their requirements for training for races. You can read more about insurance here.

Race members don’t need to (and cannot) buy day tickets because unlimited race licences are already included in their membership.

Day tickets will cost £8 per day. Answers to some FAQs about day tickets are provided here.
