Tim Synge recently contacted the club to say that his maternal grandfather was a member of Ross Rowing Club in the 1920’s.
“Stanley Parsons was my maternal grandfather. He was born in Ross in 1904.
He and my grandmother married in 1929 and they lived in Bristol. He died in 1970 when I was quite young, so I have very little memory of him.”
Tim kindly sent the two pictured trophies to the club.
“The earlier of the two cups is dated 1922 and the later one 1928, so he clearly rowed for a good few years. Given that he and his two sisters were all born in Ross, I should imagine that Ross RC was his “home” club. (I also have a “Bury Vase” medal from Hereford RC dated 1925.)”
Tim also included a photo of “Stan” from around the 1920s. If anyone knows of any extended family connections locally, or descendants of his, do please come and see his trophies at the club.
